My name is Marko Ackert, I was born in 1980 in Oelsnitz/Vogtl. I grew up in a musical and picturesque corner of Vogtland, which is inherently linked to the great traditions of creating world-class instruments.

In 1996 I started my studies in the studio “Johannes Rubner”, which prepared me for the profession of a double bass luthier. After 3 years of learning I worked as an apprentice until 2012. In 2013 I received a luthier master’s degree and as a master I led the workshop until 2020.

In 2017 I acquired a traditional workshop , which is located in the heart of Markneukirchen. The workshop formerly “Josef Saumer” is now my place of work,where I do repairs of all kinds of double basses and cellos. I also build new basses according to the individual specifications of my customers. I work according to old models combined with new findings in instrument making techniques.
